Services

Some of the services are provided on site, and others may be provided off site in connection with our community partners. Our doors are open Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. We will occasionally open for special programs and services on evenings and weekends and for special appointments.

Support Groups for Kinship Caregivers

Groups are offered in Petaluma and Santa Rosa several times a month. Some groups are facilitated by SKFC staff, while some may be facilitated by other providers. Some groups also provide an educational component. On-site respite may be scheduled for some groups. Please call for specific locations, days and times. All support groups are free of charge.

Relative Resource Workshops

Learn about a variety of topics from school related concerns, child behaviors, internet safety, gang issues, and more. These FREE workshops may be a one-time event, or be a 6-8 week program. Please call for a list of topics and information about workshop registration, including locations and directions. Drop ins welcome! Please visit the Events page for a list of workshops.

Guardianship Assistance and Custody Options

Receive assistance with completing paperwork necessary to file for guardianship of a child in Sonoma County. Some services are provided by SKFC staff, while other services requiring legal consultation, will be offered by another provider. Forms to file for Legal Guardianship may be picked up at the Sonoma Kinship Family Center, free of charge.

Kinship staff are prepared to provide you with information when you are faced with the variety of custody options to care for you kinship child(ren), including consulting with you about eligibility for other services/assistance connected to the different custody options.

Computer Center

Computers on-site are internet accessible and caregivers are also welcome to use the computer equipment, printers, copier and fax machines.

Resources, Referrals, Advocacy

We are ready to assist you with connecting to a variety of community resources; legal, financial, educational, housing, child care, respite, emergency assistance, transportation, counseling, and more. Contact us for assistance in any of these areas. Visit the Resources page for more links.
