Kinship care is the full-time care, nurturing, and protection of children by relatives, members of their families, or any adult who has a kinship bond with a child. Kinship services support the concept of children residing with a relative in a family setting, rather than being placed in an out-of-home setting.
Sonoma Kinship Family Center was able to open it's doors as the result of a collaborative effort by KINS (Kinship Initiative Network of Services). KINS, an advisory committee, consists of Sunny Hills Services, Junior League of Napa-Sonoma, Grandparents Parenting...Again, along with the support of Sonoma County Family, Youth and Children's Services.
The center is managed by Sunny Hills Services, established in 1895, a private non-profit, providing a full spectrum of residential, special education, mental health, and community-based services to children and families in the North Bay.
We are funded through the California Department of Social Services KSSP (Kinship Support Services Program), private and public donors, and in part as the signature project of the Junior League of Napa-Sonoma. We collaborate with a variety of agencies and organizations to be able to provide these services and support to kinship families.
