We're committed to finding events for kinship families that are free or low in cost.

Relative Resource Workshops for Adults

All locate at the kinship center, unless otherwise noted. No Fee. Drop-ins welcome. Ongoing resource workshops are always on Tuesdays and provide a support component. Half day workshops are quarterly (Thursdays) and provide free morning refreshments and lunch.

  • HALF DAY WORKSHOP: How to Advocate for Yourself & Kinship Youth
    Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, 9:00-1:30
    Presenter: Jeanette Nelson - learn how to get a "YES" answer
  • Weekly Resource Workshop / Support Group: Continue discussion about advocating for yourself.

  • HALF DAY WORKSHOP: Avoiding Power Struggles
    Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, 9:00-1:30
    Presenter: Jeff Cotton, MFT- learn how to identify unhealthy behaviors and help your child (and yourself) chose healthier responses. Improve communications.
  • Weekly Resource Workshop / Support Group: Continue discussion about power struggles.

  • HALF DAY WORKSHOP: The Link Between Self-Esteem and Risky Behaviors

    Presenter: Bob Florez, MA - Learn how to identify risky behaviors in youth and how to help develop self-esteem.
  • Weekly Resource Workshop / Support Group: Continue discussion about risky behaviors and self-esteem building for your child.

  • HALF DAY WORKSHOP: Telling Our Stories

    Presenter: Mary Hirsch, MFT - Explore how to share your story with you kinship child: how they cam to be in your care, how much do you share, where to you begin?
  • Weekly Resource Workshop / Support Group: Continue discussion about your stories.

There are a variety of events in the North Bay Area which offer low or FREE admission for children or seniors. From library story-time events, to free tours at Mrs. Grossman's Sticker Factory, call us for some ideas!
